I went on-line to look over the website for the marathon, looking for articles to read about the race and noticed that the confirmation sheets are ready. I am officially in corral number 16 and my race number is 16087. Now it is official. I have a race number. I found out that each corral has 1000 runners. The runners are placed together based on experience and the predicted finish time. I have predicted a finish time of 4 hours and 30 minutes which is 270 minutes which is 10:18 minute mile pace. I have been running that on my long runs so I feel pretty good that I should keep that. I can change my corral if I need to, but I probably should be ok.
Found out Melinda (my sister) is in corral 12. She is planning on running a 10:00 minute mile pace. Hard to believe there are about 4000 people running between 10:00 and 10:18 minute mile pace.
So there will be about 16,000 runners that start before I do. In the past they have had about 31,000 runners. So it looks like I'll start in the middle of the pack. The final information said that each corral starts about 1 minute to 3 minutes after each one. I guess I'll be starting my marathon run around no earlier than 7:16, but no later than 7:45 or so. That is a lot of waiting. We are supposed to be getting to our corrals beginning at 6:00. So I could be waiting for an hour + until the race. With staying at the hotel, I might leave the hotel at 6:00 and then find my place.
I am starting to get our plan together for Friday. On Friday, Michael has a fieldtrip I am going on with him. We are going to ride a riverboat on the Cumberland River (not the General Jackson, but another one - can't remember the name). After the fieldtrip, maybe we can all go to the zoo on our way to drop me off in Nashville (we'll see). I would love to have a picnic with the family in Centennial Park Friday evening, weather permitting. If it rains we'll have the picnic dinner at the hotel.
My in-laws are coming in on that Friday, but I don't know when they plan to arrive. When they get in, maybe they'll come hang out with us at Centennial Park.
Saturday is an 8 mile day. Not too bad. The weather is suppose to be nice.
