April 27 - 6 Mile Run

I am still in Iowa. David is doing better. He is not out of ICU yet, but he is responding to questions. It is great to see that. I am still watching the kids while Heather is helping her family. Heather came to the house and hung out with the kids so I could go run. I decided on 6 miles again. I am not eating as I normally would since we are up in Iowa. I wonder how my eating has effected my running? Since I have decided on the Madison Marathon on May 30. I have to step back to a month ago. That means I need to run my 20 mile run this Saturday.

It is late and I am a bit tired from watching the kids day but I need to go through with the run to keep things going. I love being with my kids so much, but I wish we weren't in the situation that gave me this time.

6.01 miles, 57:13 minutes, 9:31 minute mile pace, 905 calories

I am ready for my 20 mile run on Saturday. The hard part is going to be preparing for the run. Heather is going to stay up in Iowa for a week with Kayla and Josh and I am heading back to Murfreesboro with Michael. I will run into the challenge of figuring out how to run without Heather being there to be there with the kids. Also, to make sure I eat what I need to eat to keep myself in shape for the marathon.

April 26 - What race should it be?

Today is the day to research which race I want to run. This was kind of exciting. I want to run in a city I have never been to. I don't want to have to travel to far. It could either be near Nashville or Davenport. The dates and choices were:

Cincinatti - May 2
Missouri Race - May 15
Traverse City, Michigan - May 29
Rockford, IL - May 16
Madison, WI - May 30
Rochester, MN - May 30
Stillwater, MN - May 30
South Bend, IL - June 5
Minneapolis, MN - June 6

After looking at all the scenrios I decided that the Madison, WI. It was only 3 hours from Davenport, IA. We could as a family head off to Iowa to help Brenda out with David. I could disappear on Saturday to the expo and get my number and then run with Sunday. I could then drive back to Davenport Sunday afternoon. If things are going well maybe Heather and the boys can come up with me. The Madison Marathon has a limit the number of runners. They only allow about 8,000 runners compared to the Country Music Marathon 32,000 runners. It might be nice to be able to run when it is not so crowded.

I officially registered with the Madison Marathon. I am now officially registered to run in Madison, WI. I have never been to Madison, WI and look foward to it. Also, I needed to get a hotel room for Saturday night. I found a room at the Crowne Plaza about 6 miles from the starting line. I reserved a double bed room in case anyone comes up to watch me run. Hopefully, Heather and boys will be able to come. If they can't that is fine as well. Some things are more important. The main part is that I will finish.

I now need to change my posting to prepare for the Madison Marathon! Now one month until the race. Time to take a step back.

April 25 - Here we go again

It is harder to find time to run now. I am in Iowa with the main goal of watching the kids so Heather can help her family and be there for her dad. I haven't run since April 21. On April 21, I ran only 2 miles with the thought that that was my last run before the Country Music Marathon. Time to start training again.

Heather came over to my in-laws house late in the evening so I could run.

I am not sure when I am going to run, but I know I am going to run a marathon soon. I decided to go ahead and run 6 miles and see how it goes. I built up some carbs during the week in preparation for the Country Music Marathon.

Davenport, IA is a very hilly city. I didn't really start noticing that until during Christmas when I was running. I was running up the hill on 53rd and noticed a sign that went up to 8 and down to 6 then at 7. I wasn't sure what it was as I ran closer I figured it out. It was a speed limit monitor. When I noticed this, I started to run faster to see how high I could get it. I got it up to 10 up hill. Made the rest of the run a bit harder, but it was closer to the end of the run.

6.11 miles 56:14 total time, 9:11 minute mile pace, 920 calories

I was happy with the pace and the time. Felt good.

I'M BACK!!

April 24 - Missing the race

Today is the day of the Country Music Marathon race. Nashville is suppose to have severe thunderstorms during the race. I received an email before the race that the "pick up pace" is 4:30 pace! What! That is my pace. If you were not running a 4:30 minute pace at the half marathon break off then you would be required to run the half marathon. I would have had to run a bit faster than expected on my first 12 miles to make sure I make the cut-off.

After the race was over I heard around 11:00 the storms hit Nashville and they picked up the runners. I probably would not have been able to finish. That would have been so discouraging to not finish the marathon due to the storms.

But, due to David's situation I didn't make it.

I decided to wear my Country Music Marathon t-shirt in Iowa. It turned out to be a $100 t-shirt. Well worth it.

Time to take a step back one month and start training again. I didn't bring my computer so I just ran up in Iowa the miles I thought in my head I should be running.

April 22 - The Phone Call

Around 6:30 on Thursday morning we recieved a phone call from Brenda Peters, my mother in law. To find out David Peters, my father in law was not breathing at 5:00 this morning. Brenda performed CPR on David as the 911 operator was on the phone. The paramedics arrived shortly there after and had to shock his heart into action. It appears he had gone into cardic arrest. The paramedics rushed him to the emergency room. Mr. Peters was in critical condition and was located in the ICU unit.

I just laid in the bed as Heather held the phone so both of us could hear what Brenda had said. Was this really happening?! I prayed continually as I took a shower and took Michael off to school. I knew Heather needed to get up there as soon as possible. I had to quickly figure out how we were going to work this out. I checked on flights and the earliest we could have got Heather up there was 8:00 that evening. Might as well drive. I considered renting Heather a car and having her drive up there and then the boys and I would follow after the race. But, after further thought I decided that we all would go straight up there. If I could I would drive back to Nashville on Friday for the race on Saturday and then drive back up on Sunday. That way I wouldn't miss the race. But, to me missing the race was not the most important thing. On the way through Nashville we stopped by the Nashville Convention Center and I quickly picked up my packet and number so if I could make it back I would. I also got my marathon t-shirt. The t-shirt was actually pretty nice. I was happy with it.

We drove up to Iowa Thursday afternoon and evening. We left Nashville around 1:00 and arrived at the hospital at 11:00. We didn't receive much information on the way up. Personally I did not think that was a good sign and it wasn't. I decided that my window to leave to go to the race was 3:00. I can't leave Iowa later than 3:00 and make it to the race.

We we arrived, David was in bad shape. His chance of surival was low. Friday morning I decided not to go to the race. Based on the situtuation I needed to stay. I told Heather I was going to stay, but I was going to run another race soon. Jermey went on-line and there were multiple marathons to run in May. Since I was at this level, I decided to shift to another race. Now the question is what race will I run? I wanted to make sure I didn't interfere with being here in Iowa to help my in-laws.

April 21 - Last Run

Well that's it. No more training. I ran the final 2 miles this evening. It seemed like such a short distance, but I forgot to eat my normal banana before heading out. I actually could tell in my run. I tryed to focus on keeping the pace. This has been my focus the last few weeks. Tomorrow morning I will be off to the Expo to get my number. Actually took my weight this morning to see how much I am down. I was 187 pounds. I started at 210 pounds in October. That is 23 pounds so far. I wonder what it will be after running the 26.2 miles.

2.00 Miles, 18:39 minutes, 9:18 minute mile pace, 301 calories

I need to make sure I run slower when I start out.

Just watched the weather for Saturday. They are predicting "heavy storms" on Saturday with Heavy Downpours, with frequent lightning and hail. Channel 2 said that it is all about the timing. As the hours go on the chances of the thunderstorms get higher. Hopefully, the storms will hold off till after 12:00.

I TIVOd the Channel 5 news to see what they say about the weather as well. They actually had a news segment about the upcoming race. Over 32,000 people have signed up for Marathon and Half Marathon. They have started building the course and the finish line. Exactotrac put some rain coming through before 6:00 and then possibly holding off till after the race. But, the storms are suppose to produce hail, tornados, strong winds and heavy winds. We'll see what happens.

I also TIVOd Channel 17. They are reporting 36,000 expected to run! That is crazy! There will be a group of FT. Campbell Soliders that will run in honor of the memory the solider who died last year.

Found out one of our partners was sick and came into the office anyways. I hope I do not get it. That is the last thing I need is to get sick.

April 19 - Mmmm good!

It is now the week before the race. Only 5 days left. I came up with a menu for this week to help me build up as much energy as I could. Adding some carbs and protein to help me store up the extra energy.

April 19 - Only 5 days

Only a few days left until the race starts. Today was a 3 mile run. I decided to run during my lunch time today. I wanted to run when it was humid to prepare a bit for Saturday - in case it was humid. I ate the peanut butter and jelly sandwhich and had an apple. Off to the run. I basically ran to Kroger and back. I wanted to really work at the race pace and try to make the race pace built into me.

It was great, when I got back to the house from running. Josh came running outside. I was wslking a cool down, but Josh wanted to run. So he ran next to me around the house twice. So cute. Josh was so proud that he was running. Great moment!

3.00 miles - 28:31 minutes - 9:28 minute mile pace - 452 calories

At one point when I was running, I pushed the button on my IPOD and I was running an 8:30 minute mile pace. So I slowed down, the last mile I was able to keep it around a 9:50 minute mile pace. I am concerned I am going to start off too fast. I will be focused on not starting out too fast. Also, I don't want to start off too slow as well.

Now that I have finished this run. I only have 1 more run left! I have a 2 mile run on Wednesday. Then on Thursday and Friday I am scheduled to walk 1 mile.

Found out that Michael has a baseball game Friday afternoon/evening. He has a game at 6:00. That changes my plans for Friday night. We'll need to arrive at the game around 5:15 to warm up, leave from home around 4:45 or so, eat dinner around 4:15. I think I'll end up driving my car to the game and then leave after the game for Nashville. I think Heather is going to drive me up so that we only have 1 car in Nashville. I'll be able to hit the sack around 8:00 or 8:30 to get some rest.

The weather is forecast is 60 - 80 degrees during the race with scattered thunderstorms/showers. Sounds humid. I hope it is not too humid, but I know Michael has 2 games on the Saturday of the race he is going to miss. I would love for it to rain out so that he doesn't miss any of the games. We'll see.

April 17 - Last Long Run

Only 1 week left till the marathon. It is actually 7:35, next week at this time I will be just started the marathon or just about to start. I have a busy day today. Michael has 2 baseball games. Heather wants to do a dress rehersal on how to get to the watching spots for next week and I need to paint the bathroom. So I decided to get up early and run. Plus, I want to try to make this last long run early in the morning like the actual race. Today is only 6 miles. I haven't run the greenway in a while so I decided to run the green way.

Got up at 5:30 and was out of the house by 5:45, to the greenway around 6:00. It was still a bit dark, but not too bad. I went through my normal stretch and listening to "Eye of the Tiger" my theme song. Stretching is a bit harder in the morning than after a full day. I stretched a bit longer than I normally do.

Today I was going to try out the Cytomax drink to see what I think about it for the race. During the marathon they offer Cytomax or water to drink. Cytomax is a sports drink that will help you not be so sore when you finish. Removing some of the latic acid that causes soreness.

I headed off on the greenway. It looked like it was about to rain. A cold front is coming through that will lower the temperature for a while. It has been 85 of so the last week. Hopefully, it will keep the temperature down through the race day.

By the 3rd mile, I remembered I hadn't eaten breakfast yet. I was getting pretty hungry. It reminded me that I need to make sure I eat before running next Saturday.

I tried the Cytomax stuff. It tasted ok, not too bad. But, I felt like it made me more thirsty. I drank a whole water bottle of the Cytomax. Still felt like I was thirsty. During the race I might drink some Cytomax, but I think I am going to mainly drink the water to stay hydradrated.

My pack I run with has a water bottle holder. I decided that probably at the race I will run with the belt, but will rely on the water stops for the water. The water bottle full of water is fairly heavy. It is a not easier to run with the pack without the water. Also, I have made sure I put my cell phone in the pack along with the gummy food for energy. I have gone ahead and run with the belt and the stuff so I can get used to it.

Another goal for today was to focus on not running faster than the pace I want to run the marathon in. My goal is to average a pace of 10:00 minute miles. I really want to make sure I don't start the race too fast.

I spoke to Jermey (my brother). He ran the Walt Disney World Marathon a few years back. The main suggestion he had was to make sure that I don't start out too fast.

Today's run went pretty well. It was a bit humid since a few showers are coming.

6.07 miles run, 1:00:26 total time, 9:57 minute mile pace, 913 calories

Good deal! I averaged a pace near 10:00.

Only 1 week left!

April 14 - Work on Pace

This evening, I took some time and pulled together a plan for Heather based on a 10 minute mile pace based on the corral. I tried to figure out where I would be at what time. I pulled this together:

7:30 - Estimated time I would cross the start time (based on the 16th corral start time last year).
8:00 - Mile 3 (At Music Row Turn around)
8:20 - Mile 5 (Near Belmont University)
8:50 - Mile 8 (Back at Belmont University)
9:10 - Mile 10 (Turn on 12th avenue)
9:20 - Mile 11 (Near the Capital)
9:40 - Mile 13 (Entering Metro Center Area)
10:30 - Mile 18 (Leaving Metro Center Area)
10:30 - Mile 19 (Bi-Centennial Mall)
10:50 - Mile 20 (Pass by LP Field - See the others finishing up)
11:20 - Mile 23 (Entering Shelby Park)
11:40 - Mile 25 (Only a mile left)
12:00 - Mile 26.2 (Finish!!)

A company works with the marathon will text a phone number every 5K. We decided to get the text messages. Heather and the boys can be at Belmont University and the Bi-Centennial Mall (mile 19). I picked these spots because it is right after a 5K spot. So Heather will receive a text message within a few minutes before I arrive at the location.

Today I decided to run 30 minutes and work on getting my pace. Also, I wanted to take a about 4 minutes and run a quick pace. This was actually my first actual minute run. I worked at trying to keep my pace around 10:00 minute miles. I kept it pretty close.

35:22 minutes 9:39 minute mile pace, 3.66 miles 550 calories

The speed run for 8 of these 35 minutes pushed the pace down.

Felt pretty good. I decided to rely on the water at the marathon instead of carrying my own. The water is heavy and is harder to run with.

April 13 - Less than a week left

Only a week until the actual race. I am trying to run right at or a bit faster than race pace. I spent a few minutes this evening and read through some "Common Mistakes" by first timers. Some on list:

Starting too fast. Not sticking with your pace. Letting the addreline take control.

Drinking too much water before the race.

Trying something new for the race. Not follow your same routine for the long runs. Including the same food, same music, etc. Keep everything the same.

I am will try to not fall into any of these.

Run today:

4.00 miles, 37:10 minutes, 9:17 minute mile pace, 601 miles

Ran it too fast. Am I going to need to work on my pace. I don't want to fall into the trap of starting off too fast.

April 10 - Only 2 weeks

Only 2 weeks left until the real deal. I actually am really excited about it. I have spoken to enough people that have run the half and full in Nashville. They have really pumped me up. I now have confidence that I can complete the run. But, it always does matter what the weather conditions are like. Hopefully, it is cloudy with a little drizzle about 60 degrees. But, the weather last week has been hot. So I have to assume that it will be 80 + degrees and plan appropriately.

Today was a busy, busy day! I started out heading into the office around 7 o'clock or so. It is that time of year. By the way, today was our last Saturday or busy season!! I am so glad! I am ready to enjoy a full weekend. Around 10:30, Heather and the kids picked me up for Michael's baseball game. Michael played catcher. He hit 2 triples as well. He did great! Then back home. Time to cut the yard. We have a large yard and it was time to cut the yard. I have a push mower that I use, but it takes a lot of energy to push the mower. I am curious how far I walk when pushing. I bet it is about 2 miles. It seems like a long way. Played with the kids outside, gave the kids baths and put the boys to bed. It was about 9:00 and it was time to do some running. I got ready and stretched. Time to go.

Today I was scheduled to run 8 miles. With my car still at the office, I planned on running to the office and getting my car to bring it back home. The issue is that the office was only 5 miles away so I needed to make up 3 miles somewhere by going around different areas. I ran a bit in the neighborhood. I purchased 2 more songs for my running playlist. Steven Curtis Champon "Live out Loud" and "Dive". I really like these songs. They are upbeat with a great tune and they have a great message to them. I notice when I run, I listen to the words a lot more. Some songs have a great beat, but the words don't really carry a great message.

Then I headed to the Murfreesboro Airport. Ran to the airport and over past the hangers, etc. A guy was just getting back from flying. What a hobby! That would be fun to learn to fly. Maybe someday, I can do that as well, but it is kind of expensive, time consuming when I have young kids at home.

At around mile 2 and 3, I started to get hungry and a bit tired. I hadn't eaten great today. I forgot to eat breakfast, ate 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch and a few slices of pizza for dinner. I did eat 2 bananas before heading out. Bananas really give me some energy. So I was banking on the bananas. But, after a about 1/2 a mile of feeling tired and hungry, I then got my second wind. I wonder if the bananas kicked in.

Then I headed to the Murfreesboro Square. Turned left on Broad Street. I was running past a telephone pole and scrape. I felt a scrape on my arm! Did I cut it bad? What was it that scrapped my arm? I didn't go back and check. The scrape wasn't too bad at all. As I kept running it started burning a bit from the sweat getting into the cut. It was not bad enough to stop running, but I knew I probably needed to take care of it when I got back home.

I decided to make sure to run Church street up to the square. Church street to the square is a large hill. I focused on keeping pace or even increasing my pace on the hill. I was able to get up the hill pretty good.

I ran through the historical district in Murfreesboro down college street. The houses here are very pretty. I love the antibellium type houses. College street has a great sidewalk to run down. Once the NIKE PLUS told me that I had 1 mile left I turned around and headed back to the office. I knew I was about a mile from the office. I really felt good around mile 7.

One of my goals for this run was to try to run a race pace so that I don't get used to running too fast so that on race day I don't run to fast at the beginning and use up all my energy so that the last part of the race, I don't have energy. With my IPOD PLUS I can push a button on my IPOD and the nice lady will let me know what my current time and pace is. I used this function to try to keep at race pace. I hit the button about 3 times and was running a 9:30 pace. I bit faster than the race pace, but that was ok.

The last mile felt good, plus I was running down the hill I had gone up on Church Street. But, the last bit from the Broad street to the office was a hill. I tried to run hard up the hill to finish off the 8 miles. When I was done, I felt good.

I remember when I was running 8 miles back when I was starting my training up and it was difficult to do. My legs would get really heavy at the end, but now it is not as tough. I feel confident I can run the race and finish.

Once I finished, I headed up to my office on the 3rd floor, but the stairs. Got some water and checked out my arm. I need to put something on my arm. I need to take care of it, but it doesn't look like the scrape when too deep into the arm. Just a small scrape.

8.00 miles - 1 hour and 13 minutes - 9:13 minute mile pace - 1250 calories

Ended up running a bit faster than I was hopping for. Does this mean my race pace is 9:30 or so now? I would finish the marathon around 4:05 - 4:15. That would be cool to finish it in that time, but I am not counting on it. If during the race I notice that I am that close to breaking 4 hours, I would like to think that I would run a bit harder to see if I can break the 4 hour mark.

My goal is still 4:30. All my long runs (greater than 15 miles or so), I have run between 10:00 and 10:30 minute mile pace.

April 9 - Corral 16

I went on-line to look over the website for the marathon, looking for articles to read about the race and noticed that the confirmation sheets are ready. I am officially in corral number 16 and my race number is 16087. Now it is official. I have a race number. I found out that each corral has 1000 runners. The runners are placed together based on experience and the predicted finish time. I have predicted a finish time of 4 hours and 30 minutes which is 270 minutes which is 10:18 minute mile pace. I have been running that on my long runs so I feel pretty good that I should keep that. I can change my corral if I need to, but I probably should be ok.

Found out Melinda (my sister) is in corral 12. She is planning on running a 10:00 minute mile pace. Hard to believe there are about 4000 people running between 10:00 and 10:18 minute mile pace.

So there will be about 16,000 runners that start before I do. In the past they have had about 31,000 runners. So it looks like I'll start in the middle of the pack. The final information said that each corral starts about 1 minute to 3 minutes after each one. I guess I'll be starting my marathon run around no earlier than 7:16, but no later than 7:45 or so. That is a lot of waiting. We are supposed to be getting to our corrals beginning at 6:00. So I could be waiting for an hour + until the race. With staying at the hotel, I might leave the hotel at 6:00 and then find my place.

I am starting to get our plan together for Friday. On Friday, Michael has a fieldtrip I am going on with him. We are going to ride a riverboat on the Cumberland River (not the General Jackson, but another one - can't remember the name). After the fieldtrip, maybe we can all go to the zoo on our way to drop me off in Nashville (we'll see). I would love to have a picnic with the family in Centennial Park Friday evening, weather permitting. If it rains we'll have the picnic dinner at the hotel.

My in-laws are coming in on that Friday, but I don't know when they plan to arrive. When they get in, maybe they'll come hang out with us at Centennial Park.

Saturday is an 8 mile day. Not too bad. The weather is suppose to be nice.

April 9 - Where too, Columbus OH or Little Rock?

I calculated the total miles so far. I have run a total of 345 miles so far in my training! Since I got to the IPOD PLUS I have averaged a 9:42 minute mile pace. I have approximately 29 miles left to train. That is the mileage to Little Rock, AR!! After I finish the actual race I should have run 397.20 miles!! That is the mileage to Columbus, OH. This makes me want to find 3 miles somewhere I can run so that I can hit the 400 mile mark. I am weary to add anything or take away anything from my training schedule. So I guess, I'll be set with 397.20 miles. That still is a lot for sure. That is in 6 months.

April 8 - Shrinking Miles

My mileage is starting to go down. I am suppose to run 4 miles this evening. I have normally been running 5 miles the weekday nights. Now it is 4 miles. Basically, I run to Post office and and a bit down Memorial and then around. That is not much at all!

I got ready to run, got my IPOD out and noticed my battery was dead on my IPOD. I really want to make sure this run is recorded in the system through my IPOD PLUS, so I charged it up for 1 hour and then headed out. Hopefully, I have enough juice to make it the 4 miles.

During that hour, I decided to do some more research on the internet. I did a search looking for blogs about past races. I found a lot of blogs about the race. Looks like in 2008, it rained in the morning and then cleared up after the race started and in 2009 it was HOT (around 80 - 85 degrees around 11 and 12). That is very hot to be running outside. Most of the blogs were runners who have run multiple marathons. Some were trying to run a marathon in every state and choose the Country Music Marathon for Tennessee. Each of the experienced runners wrote about how difficult the Nashville Marathon race was and that this course was one of the most challenging. Yikes! What did I sign up for? Did I sign up for one of the most challenging courses? Looks like it. I knew it was challenging when I signed up, but didn't know it was one of the most challenging. O well, gives me some more incentive to finish; not an excuse to not run. The 2009 blogs caught my attention the most. Someone actually died running the half marathon. It was not related to the heat, but it still reminds me that training is important!! Also, numerous blogs account for the number of participants that were on stretchers being toted off to the hospital. I guess my main goal is not only to finish but to stay out of the ambulence. That is always a good goal. In fact, one of the bloggers noted that he counted 10 participants on stretchers. One of the bloggers himselve was put on a stretcher for getting too hot. Once he was cooled down, he then got up and finished the marathon. Talking about tough! I just need to make sure I don't get on the stretcher in the first place.

Most of the bloggers for 2009 discussed that most everyone was walking the last 6 miles or so. You have to be smart about things. If your body is telling to slow down then you should. You can tell warning signs of getting too hot or pushing yourself too much. I need to watch this. I don't mind having to walk some of it, if I have too. I would like to say I ran the whole thing, but if I have to I'll do 1 mile walk, 1 mile run, etc. when I get closer to the finish. But, I need to make sure I am running the last mile.

Also, I searched some YouTube videos to see what the start line, race and finish line looked like and what to expect. It looks crowded, but not as crowded as I imagined.

I was able to think about all this on my 4 miles of running.

4.01 miles 37:59 minutes, 9:28 minute mile pace, 602 calories

April 6 - 5 miles

5.01 miles, 45:29 minutes, 9:05 minute mile pace, 752 calories

April 3 - Downtown

Less than a month until the run. I don't want to call it a race. I am not racing to win this thing at all. I am running this to FINISH. I waited until my kids hit the sack before heading off on my run for today. It is a long run day - 10 miles.

It is nice that my mileage is starting to go down. With less than a month until the race, I need to taper my mileage down. In October, I would have never said that 10 miles was a short run, but I have finally got to that point. I decided I wanted to run to the square in Murfreesboro and then back. My IPOD Plus was going to track the mileage for me. I basically would run out and then turn around at half way and run back. I got my fanny pack and headed out. I had some of the gummy food left from the 20 mile run that I took at the half way point. (5 miles). This probably helped me out. I felt great. Didn't get too tired. This was an uneventfun run. Nothing too exciting happened. I made it to the square, turned around and ran back.

April 1 - Do I have any energy?

It is April (April fools day). I still don't feel 100% from being sick on Tuesday. The question is how much this has effected my training. I have been eating ok, so I should be ok to run, but what toll will the sickness have on it? I was scheduled to run 5 miles today.

Due to some unusual circumstances, I didn't get started running until 10:30. This didn't help as well.

Ended up running a bit slower than normal, but felt ok. I was ready for the 5 miles to be up.

5.01 miles, 46:56 minutes, 9:22 minute mile, 753 calories.

That is actually faster than my goal pace for the 26.2 miles. In light of all circumstances, I felt pretty good.
