May 8, 2010 - From the Hospital

I am up in Iowa to pick up Heather, Kayla and Josh. Michael and I drove up to Iowa on Friday. We arrive in Davenport at 12:45. So I didn't get as much sleep as I would have hoped also I ate McDonalds for dinner. I dinner eat my normal speghetti. How will this effect my run on Saturday.

I left Nashville and it was in the 90s and as I kept driving north the temperature kept going down. When I arrived in Davenport it was in the mid 40s. Brrr! With the wind it was really cold.

I need to run 10 miles today as I continue to taper down for the race Memorial Day Weekend. We decided I would go hang out with David in the Hospital and run from the Hospital back to the Peters house. I really didn't have a course set up, but knew about how I was going to run it. I had the goo candy that I could use at the 5 mile marker for energy.

I stayed with David and played "Crazy eights" with him until around 9:00. It was time for him to take a shower so I headed out. Stretching to my normal "Eye of the Tiger". The cold hit me pretty hard. Brr. It was cold at first, but it sure felt good as I ran it. I felt good during the run, but I didn't eat good and I didn't get as many carbs as I wanted before a long run.

10.01 miles 1:46:10 time, 10.01 minute mile pace - 1505 calories

The pace has really slowed down. I believe that is the McDonalds talking as well as the lack of eating healthy during the week. I guess I should be glad I didn't struggle during the run.
