This morning, I got up at 5:30 to go running. I decided to go and run somewhere I have never run before. I went to the Stones River Battlefield. The sun was already up. I found a running trail, stretched and went on. I am not familar with the battlefield so I just went the way that made sense. I ended up at a deadend to the road that goes out to the Medical Plaza. So I decided to run past the new hospital to Medical Plaza Blvd.
I did some research on the Madison Course and all blogs noted that this was going to be a hilly course. On google maps this sure did look hilly.
So I wanted to do the hill on Medical Plaza over the railroad tracks.
It was extremely humid in this run. I really struggled with the humidity. I was drenched after just 1/2 a mile. I kept running hard, but the 6 miles was tough to me.
In my head I was wondering if I am struggling with 6 miles what am I going to do about 26.2 miles. I would have another 20 miles to go. But, I did consider that the race was in Wisconsin. Hopefully, the weather will coorperate.
I checked the weather channel and right now they are saying a high of 72 and low of 53. Perfect temperature, but Saturday is supposes to be in the mid-80s. I guess a cold front is coming through Saturday night. Hopefully, the cold front will not come in later. We'll see.
6.01 miles, 55:48 minutes, 9:17 minute mile pace, 903 calories
I ran faster than my race pace! I have got to slow down. Otherwise I might run into a problem and struggle at the end.
