This morning it was 32 degress when I headed off to the office (around 7:00 or so). (It is saturday). Heather took the kids to the Nashville Zoo this morning. When she was coming back we spoke on the phone (around 1:30 or so) and Heather told me it was 70 degrees outside. That is a lot hotter than I was anticipating, but the temperature on race day could be just as warm. So I went on. I left my car at the office and started out running home.
I took a right from the office and ran towards Barfield Park. I was hoping to run down to our old apartment and then run home. I ran about 2.5 miles out and then turned around to head back to the office. I ran up a large hill on South Rutherford Blvd. The hill was tough and drained a lot of energy from me.
On my way back I ran into the office (at about mile 4) up 3 flights of stairs to the fridge for some water. Got some water and then ran back down the stairs. Then I turned the other direction towards home. I ran into the square downtown and noticed that police had baracaded some streets. To give me something to do I ran down to the baracade to see what was going on. One of the buildings near downtown was on fire. I actually could smell the smoke. It was fairly strong. It was warm all the way home. I timed it out about right in mileage. I try to hit the "goal" run near home. I was off by about 200 yards. I used that distance for my cool down.
I ran 10 miles today.
10.00 miles, 1:37:11, 9:42 minute mile pace, 1504 calories
I was glad to get home. It was warm outside.
Next Saturday is the longest training run - 20 miles. I put together a course tonight. My goal is to prepare for this training run as if this is the actual race. I plan on start running at 7:00 in Nashville. So it will be an early morning. What I have to look foward to next weekend.
